High cholesterol might cause fatty deposits in your blood vessels. These deposits eventually develop, blocking the flow of blood through your arteries. Sometimes such deposits break unexpectedly and form a clot, resulting in a heart attack or stroke.
Men's historically higher rates of harmful habits, such as smoking and stress, may be related to the problem. Moreover, after menopause, women's risk of heart disease appears to increase; researchers believe that naturally existing hormones may serve a preventive effect in younger women.

* Physical inactivity.
* Smoking and secondhand smoke exposure.

* Family history: Having a close relative with coronary artery disease raises your risk.
* Ethnicity: Certain ethnicities are more at risk.
Foods to highlight:
* Fruits and vegetables: Aim for 4-5 servings per day. Choose a variety of color combinations to get a broader range of nutrients.
* Whole Grains: Choose brown rice, quinoa, oats, and whole-wheat bread over processed grains.
* Fish, legumes, nuts and seeds, lean poultry, eggs, and unprocessed red meat are all good sources of protein.
* Healthy Fats: Consume unsaturated fats from olive oil, avocados, nuts, and seeds.
Foods to Limit:
Saturated fats are found in fatty meats, full-fat dairy products, and processed foods.
* Reduce your sodium intake by eliminating processed foods, added table salt, and restaurant meals, which are typically saltier.
*Limit sugary drinks, sweets, and processed foods.

Yes, heart disease can be hereditary. Genes may modify risk variables such as cholesterol and blood pressure, raising your chance of getting heart disease.
Blockages produced by plaque formation in the heart's arteries can result in angina or a heart attack. Similarly, plaque and blood clots in the brain's arteries can lead to a stroke. Common heart illnesses, such as coronary artery disease, increase the risk of stroke by narrowing arteries and reducing oxygen delivery to the brain.
